The purpose of this assignment is to introduce you to investing in the stock market.  The goal is to pick up to six stocks using an initial investment of $10,000 which you will divide among the stock you choose.  You will create an Excel worksheet entitled My Portfolio in which you will follow the progress of your stocks. 

In order to make a wise decision on which stocks to choose, to to Yahoo Finance home page

• Click on S & P 500

• Click on Components

This will give you a list of the 500 companies that make up the S & P   Index.  Determine how many shares of stock you wish to purchase and try to stay within the $10,000 limit.  I will give you a format for setting up the worksheet and provide assistance.  You will work with a partner and submit one worksheet for the team.  Make sure both names appear on the worksheet.
