Wrestling History

Wrestling at Manchester Regional High School began during the 1960-1961 season.  Our program succeeded at producing champions from the opening season.  
 
Manchester Regional has been represented in the Olympics twice.
 
Walt Metzler made the 1964 Olympic team as an alternate.
 
Bruce Baumgartner is the most successful wrestler to ever represent the United States.  Bruce won 2 Gold Metals, 1 Silver Metal and 1 Bronze Metal.  In addition he won hundreds of international metals. 
 
Bruce was an NCAA Heavy weight champion for Indiana State University..  Bruce placed third in the State; one of the highest place finishers for Manchester Regional High School.
 
Danny DeBlock placed 2nd in the State in the 141 weight class.  The highest place ever finished by a Manchester Wrestler.
